Arts Night

The Hub looked spectacular last night. Congratulations to all of the budding artists who either performed in the cozy venue set up on the mini-stage of the Hub or displayed their art work for all to see. Thanks to Mr. Laflamme, Miss Potosky and Miss Grainsky for making the evening a success.

I'm a parent of a grade 10 student. I thoroughly enjoyed the Arts Night and was very pleased to see that talented students had a great opportunity to dispaly their works. Thanks for organising such a wonderful event. However I'm disappointed to know that CIS has no piano and students who learn piano have to use keyboard during their lessons and performances instead. The technique between keyboard and piano is hugely different. If CIS would like to continue to cultivate students' interest in music, invest on basic musical instrutments and make sure the school is well equipmented is the start. It is not a huge investment on a piano as most schools in SG do have at least one. Would CIS consider my suggestion?

Hi Anonymous,

Thanks for your comment and the support of our event. As for the piano, I know the TT campus has one, so it will be moved into the new Lakeside campus. We are also looking at pianos for the main auditorium in the new campus. So as we grow and amalgamate back together, there will be at least one piano on campus.

Thanks,
Ted

Hi Ted,

Thanks for your reply. However it still means a lost of further 10 more months for students in JE. If there is plan, why not take action now? Most international students stay in Singapore for about 3 years. Another 10 months is a long time for their education.

Hi Anonymous,

I believe the plan is to purchase a concert piano for the stage in the new auditorium. Not an instrument that should be moved around too much.
